Situated on the corner of Eglinton and Mount Pleasant, is a real ale brewery that serves up sensational suds and delicious grub. If your gal loves beer and decent pub food, then not only are you a lucky guy, but she will be impressed when you take her to the Granite Brewery. She'll think, "Here is a guy who knows what he is doing."

What is real ale? It's unfiltered and unpasteurised beer, which is conditioned and served from a cask, usually without additional nitrogen or carbon dioxide pressure. To learn about my love affairs with real ale, lager and babes, click here.

Walking into the Granite Brewery is pretty much like walking into a British pub. The main difference is that the beer is brewed on site. The decor isn't anything romantic, but the setting is safe for first dates and casual affairs of the heart and stomach.

One of the bartenders, Bill, has been with the Granite Brewery for 17 years. We trusted him with our culinary selections and picks for thirst quenching pints of nourishment.

I started off with the Best Bitter, while my gal had the IPA. They were both equally delicious. However, when I sampled the Peculiar for my second pint, I decided that I would make it my choice of the evening.

For eats we shared a delicious, hot chicken and mushroom sandwich, covered just enough with an amazing stout ale bbq sauce. It was served with fresh cut fries, which were a bit soggy. They didn't fry them twice, which is part of what you need to do in order get fresh fries crispy.

Overall the Granite Brewery is a great place. We had 5 pints of beer between us and a sandwich for $55 + tip. Also they have free parking!
