Situated on Queen Street in downtown Toronto is Czohoski, an eclectic European style restaurant and lounge that serves interesting pierogies, risotto and other European fare. They have a large beer selection and cute wait staff that bops to the beat of the music playing.
My date and I went during a downpour of snow in the middle of March. Since we got there at 4:30 pm, the only things ready to eat were the burgers off of their bar menu. The fryer wasn’t up yet, so sadly no fries, but that didn’t stop us from chomping on a cheese burger. For a $10 burger it's slightly better than average, but nothing to write home about. It's also heavily seasoned. I like a little seasoning, but think it's best to celebrate the meat and not the seasoning.
What is good is the atmosphere. The restaurant has a rustic romantic, laid back, fun vibe. I would go here again for the pub fare, but not the full menu, which seems overpriced for what you actually get. In addition, the helpful wait staff told us where to go for better and cheaper pierogies. We would have tried the ones at Czehoski, but since they weren't ready until 6:00PM, were expensive, and we now had a recommendation for another restaurant, we decided to hold off.
